 Undercover homicide cop, Rylan Sanders, is a tough, no-nonsense woman with a sense of humor that no one seems to get. She has a ‘back off’ attitude and no friends. A loner who's been through 18 partners, Ry makes her Chief crazy with her pranks to get rid of them. As soon as she begins to feel attachments, she pushes people away, especially when her latest partner walks through the door and smirks at her and she finds herself drawn to his magnetic eyes yet infuriated at his smug attitude.

Transferred from Inuit, this part-native Canadian has only one use for a woman. Since his wife and two children perished in a fire set by an ex-con who wreaked vengeance on him in the worst way possible, Kane refuses to kiss a woman, keeping the memory of his bride alive, holding himself back during sex by preventing that one intimacy.

 When desire rides shotgun, Ry and Kane have sex, unable to keep their hands off each other, though neither of them are happy about it. While she tries to psychoanalyze him, he fights back with hurtful words to make her back off. Neither will admit when they are wrong. Vowing to keep it ‘strictly business’ they do their best to work together lure the killer out of hiding.

 Both cops try to get out of the partnership but the Chief gives them no choice. They are assigned to find a serial killer who drowns his female victims in a bathtub then sets the home on fire to cleanse the woman's lustful thoughts she shared during email correspondence with him.

Ry realizes that Kane has ulterior motives behind finding this killer and works with him to stop the Web Cleanser at all costs!
